How to Import and Export Files with your Watlow F4T
This article will teach you how to import and export files to and from your Watlow F4T controller.
USB Specifications
The Watlow F4T only recognizes certain USB flash drive types so it’s important to make sure you have a flash drive available that fits the specs for the Watlow’s USB port before trying to import or export files. The specifications for the USB port are listed below:
Version: USB 2.0 hi-speed
Connector: USB Type A, high-retention
Supports flash drives (FAT32 file system) tested up to 64 gigabyte
Maximum current: 0.5 A / port
Importing Files
To import a file onto the F4T, you’ll first need to connect your USB flashdrive to your computer and download any files you want to import onto it. Once you’ve done that, locate your chamber’s USB port and connect the flashdrive to it; depending on your chamber model the USB port will either be on the front of the chamber near the controllers or on the back of the chamber. Examples of both types of USB ports are pictured below:

Once you have the flash drive connected to the chamber, navigate to the File Transfer menu on the F4T; if your flash drive is connected properly you’ll see it listed there on this menu. After you tap Input next to the flash drive name, you’ll see a menu pop up with Configuration and Profile as the two options; select Configuration if you’re importing a new controller image file and Profile if you’re installing a profile. After that the controller will reboot with the new files(s) in place.
Note: Importing a new controller configuration file will erase any profiles you have saved on the controller. If you’d like to carry over any profiles after the new image install, export the profiles using the instructions below and import them back onto the controller afterwards
Exporting Files
To export files off of the F4T, connect your flash drive to the chamber’s USB port and navigate back to the File Transfer menu. After selecting Export next to your flash drive name, choose the Configuration option if you want to export the controller image file or Profile if you’d like to export any profiles off the controller. Once you make a selection, the selected file(s) will download onto your flashdrive
What to do if your flash drive isn’t recognized by the F4T?
If your flash drive isn’t appearing on the File Transfer menu and you’ve verified that it matches the specifications listed at the beginning of this document you can try the two additional USB ports directly on the back of the controller to see if either of those ports work. These ports are outlined in the picture below; one of them will likely have a back cable connected to it but you can remove that and try the port directly (the cable is an extension cord that leads to the USB port on the outside of the chamber.
