Industry: Medical Devices

Testing Application: Pre-Conditioning & Controlled Environmental Storage for Sterilization Services

A prominent sterilization service provider focused on the medical device sector approached Associated Environmental Systems (AES) in need of a specialized walk-in environmental chamber to pre-condition and store bulk packaged products under precise temperature and relative humidity levels prior to downstream processing. The challenge? The client required a low-profile, walk-in footprint built to fit beneath a 100-inch mezzanine ceiling, engineered specifically to accommodate full 48" x 48" x 60" pallet loads via pallet jack while offering a flexible environmental range 2°C to 40°C and up to 80% RH to serve diverse future client specifications without sacrificing setpoint stability.

The AES Solution

AES engineered two identical walk-in temperature & humidity controlled rooms, a completely custom built system to meet the unique demands of the application.

  • Pallet-Ready Low-Profile Access: Features a heavy-duty stainless steel floor (rated for 600 lbs per sq ft uniform load) paired with a 60W x 80H inch chamber door and exterior ramp, enabling seamless loading of 250 lbs palletized payloads via standard pallet jack.
  • Wide-Range Thermal & Moisture Control: Maintains precise environmental stability across a 2°C to 40°C temperature span and 30% to 80% RH (expandable to 15% RH via optional desiccant drying), holding the primary benchmark requirement of 20% to 70% RH for conditioning cycles.
  • AESONE CONNECT® Integration: Powered by a Watlow F4T programmable touchscreen controller and AESONE CONNECT®, providing web-based remote monitoring, digital PID control, and JSON API / Modbus TCP connectivity for automated data logging and lab integration.
  • Full-Service Turnkey Installation & Certification: Delivered with comprehensive full week on-site installation by factory-trained AES service engineers, UL-508A certification, and A2LA-accredited ISO 17025 controller calibration.

Crafting Your Perfect Test Set-Up

This solution was custom-engineered to meet medical device testing demands in spatial efficiency, pallet-level accessibility, and multi-climate adaptability. By combining a rugged stainless steel interior, dedicated ramp accessibility, enterprise-grade remote monitoring, and end-to-end factory service, AES delivered a chamber system that seamlessly integrates into the client's facility workflow and expands their service capacity for future sterilization contracts.

This project highlights AES’s commitment to designing advanced, customized test solutions that help engineers push boundaries supporting innovation in the medical devices sector and beyond.
