RTCA Specifications for Environmental Test Chambers


Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA)

RTCA establishes technical guidance for use by government regulatory authorities and by industry. Featuring over 200 committees, the organization advises the FAA. Furthermore, they are sponsored as a Federal Advisory Committee by the US DOT Federal Aviation Administration. Their objectives include ensuring airborne systems safety and reliability, developing operational performance requirements and developing guidelines for regulatory authroity usage.

RTCA DO-160

Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment, is a standard for the environmental testing of avionics hardware. Standard conditions include: temperature, temperature variation, humidity, and salt and fog.
